Bea Was Tired of Being Tired and Lost 86 Pounds with Professional Weight Management

Weight gain was limiting Bea’s enjoyment of life and she finally decided to do something for herself, So Bea called Professional Weight Management.

When I started here I weighed 262. I had tried a lot of programs other than this, and this one just actually teaches you how to eat and what to eat. It doesn’t just give you a pill and say you’re going to lose weight....

And what I’ve enjoyed about this program is that it’s taught me how to eat and why things are important and why they’re, you know, why some things are not important. And it’s kind of weird after as long as I’ve been doing this, that I don’t look at food the same way. I mean, there are people that live to eat and there are people that eat to live. And I used to be the person that that lived to eat because I could be putting the last bite in my mouth and thinking about my next meal. And now I can eat a little. It doesn’t really take long and then, you know, I’m done. I don’t have to think about the next meal.

I got to where I couldn't fit in the seats, rides, airplane seats, stuff like that. And I wanted to be able to go places and do things with my kids. And even at that point, my kids were adult kids. I decided it was time to just start doing something for myself.

When I started here I weighed 262. I had tried a lot of programs other than this, and this one just actually teaches you how to eat and what to eat. It doesn't just give you a pill and say you're going to lose weight. You know anybody can do that. This actually takes work, but you're more proud of yourself when you get into it. I had tried Jenny Craig, Weight Watchers, Golo, Keto Diet. Well, Golo is all about, you know, taking pills and you can you lose weight and stuff like that and but most of their premise is that you take the pill and you don't have to change anything. Well, if you know weight loss, it's not going to happen if you don't exercise. Like my my son in law is a personal trainer and I don't do a lot of gym working out like that because I want it to be a sustainable exercise.

I want to be able to do this when I'm 80, you know, So I walk like five miles a day. The other day I did 17,000 steps, you know, in one day. And I was ready to just keep going. I can remember when I couldn't do 17 steps a day, you know, I just didn't feel like it.h

I went to the mall the other day with my daughter and we walked. We must have walked around for 3 hours. And she's like, usually after like 15 minutes, you're ready to sit down. I said, Well, I guess that's the difference in energy level. The whole team was great too, because I had sat with all of them at at different times.

I have sat with all of them. And that's kind of good, too, because you get a different perspective from each person, you know, on how you need to handle things, how you need to work out or not work out, because you do need to take at least a day during the week when you don't do as much exercise just to kind of give your body some rest.

And the process was, well, first of all, when I first started, the very first thing I remember Tara telling me is it's no wonder you're not losing weight. You're starving yourself to death. Because I was eating twice a day. I eat five times a day now, but I eat smaller portions and I realized how important protein is in your diet because it keeps you full longer.

And what I've enjoyed about this program is that it's taught me how to eat and why things are important and why they're, you know, why some things are not important. And it's kind of weird after as long as I've been doing this, that I don't look at food the same way. I mean, there are people that live to eat and there are people that eat to live. And I used to be the person that that lived to eat because I could be putting the last bite in my mouth and thinking about my next meal. And now I can eat a little. It doesn't really take long and then, you know, I'm done. I don't have to think about the next meal.

But like, pizza used to be one of my very favorite things. Well, now the grease even actually makes me sick. I mean, I do have pizza toppings from here that are made with ground turkey and stuff like that. And I really like it. But to go out and get toppings off of the pizzas, too greasy.

It was all the support that I got from the girls here. And I think it was the plan because and I was just telling Tammi this morning it's not a diet per se, because this is a lifelong journey. It's not a sprint.

And I think it was the fact that I've never been hungry because I'm eating differently. And I think it was the support and the knowledge of the people that work here that have helped me so much. And you don't get that with some of the other programs that I've tried. It was the support of all the girls here, and my family is very supportive of the fact that I wanted to lose weight, I wanted to get healthy.

The doctor never told me that if I didn't lose weight, I was going to die. But he's like, you're headed in that direction. I feel so much better. I still have a ways to go, but I feel so much better. I have lost 86 pounds. I've had to buy a whole new wardrobe because clothes that I have don’t fit me, whether I want to keep wearing them or not.

But I can do more things. I'm much more active than I've been ever in my life. I don't spend as much on groceries. Yes, it's true. What I eat now is probably more expensive because, you know, I can go one buy one of those little bags and it's like two fifty. I could get a whole bag of Doritos for two fifty, but I'm eating less. So paying more is fine. Like I said, the knowledge that I have gained here because of learning what to eat, when and why to eat it, that's been a huge, huge difference in my life.

But to actually know why you're eating, what you're eating and how it's going to affect your body makes a big difference. It almost mentally makes it easier to accept the fact that you're trying to restrict yourself, which everybody says, oh, you have to have so much willpower. Well, I don't believe it takes willpower.

I believe it just takes being tired of being tired. I'm just really very, very impressed and pleased that I found this program because it's completely changed my life. And my mom asked me the other day, she goes: When are you going to go back to eating normal? I said, well, I can go back to eating normal anytime I want to. I don't ever choose to go back to eating the way I did before because I don't want to go back up to that.
